Today the Summer Learning Journey was officially opened. Rachel came to our school with a number of people including Mr Grady the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees and also people from the Next Foundation. There was a little clip shown with the host being the Manaiakalani leader of PBS Daniel Grady. Our school was a big help in this Summer Learning Journey with our school being one of the best bloggers for the summer and winter holidays. But of course we couldn't have made this a reality without Rachel who was the person who organised this program. After this we got free lunch thanks to the Next Foundation.

Dental Health DLO
Today we were learning about oral / dental health and Te Wai and I made a DLO to show my learning. This is an animation I made using google slides and it shows why you should brush your teeth and what can happen if you don't. It is very important to brush your teeth and NZ is one of the worst countries when it comes to keeping your teeth safe. So let's change our ways and start to brush our teeth. This animation is intended to educate the younger audiences specifically room 4 in PBS.

World E-Book Day
Today is world e-book day and to celebrate I read an e-book called okay for now. This book is about a boy named Doug Swieteck who is a baseballer who got a baseball cap from Joe Pepitone that was signed on the inside of his cap so nobody could even see that it was truly Joe's hat in the first place. If you want to see what other turn of events happen in this book you can find this book in the tamaki college overdrive library which is home to many books and you are sure to find what you are looking for.

Scale Drawing Enlargment
This week I have been working on a scale drawing enlargement. This is when I choose a drawing and put a grid over it, then double the size of the grid on another paper and use the squares as a guide to help you draw. The ratio in this case is 1:2 because I doubled it In this drawing, I drew the Excalibur from the game Warframe.

Tamaki Overdrive
This is a book about a cat and he is watching the thunder clan and the river clan fight for land. After a long fought battle the river clan was victorious and the thunder clan retreated. As the river clan went to celebrate there win a grey cat lay there in the field staring at the night sky. A tortoise shell cat emerges and the grey cat asks if there warriors are okay which they were luckily. This is a book I found in the Tamaki overdrive which is Tamaki colleges own online library. We were exploring the new books that tamaki overdrive have and the thing I enjoy about this is that we can read any book that we want without the hassle of visiting the library.
Kiwi Can taking risks
Today at Kiwi Can we learnt about taking and to start the session we did an energise which was bip bop bounce it's hard to explain but basically you have to say bang when he says bounce and if you say bounce if he only says bip or bip bop than you are out and you can also get out for being to slow. We also did an activity which was called hand soccer in this activity we played soccer with our hands except that everyone had to touch the ball before you could score and you could only use hands instead of feet we took risks by relying on each other and passing the ball around and there was a risk that the other team could get the ball and score for themselves

2 Word Sentence
This is a DLO I made about two word sentences. Two word sentences only have two words well obviously but one of those words is a subject and the other word is a verb so you can turn any compound or complex sentence into a two word sentence as well but you may need other sentences so it can make sense.

When that was finished we had Sub Way for lunch which was delicious and then went to English with Mr Stevenson where we had to memorise 10 words and get the corresponding pictures and finally we went to PE Mr Moyes and we played turbo touch.

Bullying Animation
This is an animation that I made with the help of Oh Hsen, Daniel and Aj. This animation is about a year 8 student standing up for a junior student who is getting bullied. I think it is important to realise that junior students can't stand up for themselves and they need some help sometimes so that's where the senior students come in. We can stand up and speak out for the people who can't stand up for themselves.

Flextangle
Today we made a Flextangle which is 3d pattern which we made using folded paper we thought carefully about the colours we chose. We chose to do hot colours on one side and cold colours on the other side the reason we did this is because contrasting colours stand out more and make the art pop more. This was a maths activity which is pretty cool that we got to do this for maths but it did have some geometry elements implemented and the folding was a bit difficult.
