Saturnalia - Italy Winter Solstice

This is a DLO Fraidoon and I made about Saturnalia which is a winter solstice celebration in Italy. Countries have these celebrations because it is the marking of a new beginning in there country where they can grow new crops and harvest the grown crops.

Legend of the seven sisters

This week we have been doing work for Matariki because it is the time of the Matariki celebration. Fraidoon and I made this DLO which has some information about The Legend of the Seven Sisters story which is a maori story about how the seven stars of Matariki came to be.

Winter Solstice animation

This is an animation Fraidoon and I made about the Winter solstice and how the seasons work. We made this DLO for the Matariki celebration about the seven stars or nine because now they believe that there are 9 sisters. Matariki is around the time of the winter solstice so it is kind of New Zealands winter solstice celebration.

Blackout day at PBS

Today was blackout day so everyone came in either black or red clothing depending on what team they were supporting and to celebrate PBS did a lot of cool things which started at 1:30 this afternoon. First we went inside the hall to sing Tu Tere Mai. After that the kapa haka group did the haka led by AJ and they did a great job. Also we went out to the field and spelt out ALL BLACKS and Mr Wong flew a drone over us and took a photo. last but not least the whole school got into a cricle around the court and we passed a ball around to everyone.
